President and CEO
Read BioDr. Richard Shinto serves as President and CEO of InnovaCare Health. Dr. Shinto has more than 30 years of clinical and operational healthcare experience in managed care, with a proven track record of innovative, physician-led care models that improve quality, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.
From 2008 until its sale in 2012, he served as President and CEO of Aveta, Inc. Dr. Shinto’s extensive experience spans across his roles as CEO of NAMM California, COO and CMO for Medical Pathways Management Company, Corporate Vice President of Medical Management for MedPartners and CMO for Cal Optima Health Plan.
From 2012 to 2021, Dr. Shinto also served as President and CEO of MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. Under InnovaCare leadership, MMM grew to become the ninth-largest MA plan in the country, serving more than 275,000 MA members and 314,000 Medicaid members. The plan received and maintained Puerto Rico’s first ever 4.5-star quality rating from CMS. In 2021, MMM was purchased by Anthem Inc.
Dr. Shinto serves on many industry and charitable boards, including AHIP (formerly America’s Health Insurance Plans), America’s Physician Groups, and the Financial Solvency Standards Board for California Dept. of Managed Care.
Dr. Shinto received his Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Irvine, his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his M.B.A. from the University of Redlands.

Read BioDouglas Malton currently serves as CFO of InnovaCare Health. He served in a number of senior management roles at Aveta, Inc. from the company’s founding in 2004, including Director and VP of Business Development, VP of Finance and most recently as CFO until its sale in 2012.
From 2012 to 2021, Malton served as CFO of MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. Under InnovaCare leadership, the plan grew to $3.5 billion in revenue and became the ninth-largest MA plan in the country. In 2021, MMM was purchased by Anthem Inc.
Prior to serving at Aveta, Malton was a member of the Straus Group where he focused on investing in the healthcare services sector. Prior to that, he spent more than seven years as an investment banker with Citigroup and Oppenheimer where he concentrated on debt and equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.
Malton received his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of New Hampshire and his Master of Science in Genetics from the University of Connecticut
Chief Administrative Officer
Read BioPenelope Kokkinides currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for InnovaCare Health, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer. Kokkinides has more than 20 years of healthcare experience specializing in government programs and managed care, with an expertise in developing efficient clinical programs and managing healthcare operations.
From 2012 to 2021, Kokkinides served in various C-suite leadership roles with MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. Under InnovaCare leadership, MMM grew to become the ninth-largest MA plan in the country, serving more than 275,000 MA members and 314,000 Medicaid members. Kokkinides served as board chair for Fundación MMM, the employee-founded 501(c)(3) dedicated to serving elderly and impoverished Puerto Ricans. In 2021, MMM was purchased by Anthem Inc.
Kokkinides previously served as COO and VP of Clinical Operations of Aveta, Inc. Prior to InnovaCare Health, she served as Executive Vice President and COO for Centerlight HealthCare, where she was responsible for overall management and strategic direction of the managed care division. Other roles include COO of Touchstone Health and Corporate Vice President for Care Management and Disease Management at AmeriChoice.Kokkinides holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and classical languages from Binghamton University, a master’s degree in social work and a post-master’s program advanced degree in alcohol and substance abuse from New York University, and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University.
Chief Medical Officer, InnovaCare Partners
Read BioDr. Rodman St. Clair serves as Chief Medical Officer for InnovaCare Health and its rapidly expanding MSO network, InnovaCare Partners. In these roles, Dr. St. Clair oversees all physician operations and is responsible for quality, coding and medical cost management for InnovaCare Partners’ growing footprint. Dr. St. Clair is an experienced healthcare leader and has held several leadership positions with InnovaCare Health and its subsidiaries over the years, including MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s largest and oldest Medicare Advantage (MA) plan.
Prior to working with InnovaCare, St. Clair served in executive leadership positions with healthcare organizations such as PrimeCare, Aetna for the Greater Los Angeles Area and NAMM of California.
He received bachelor’s degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and attended medical school at the St. Louis University School of Medicine.
Chief Operating Officer, Innovacare Partners
Read BioSteven Casper serves as the Chief Operating Officer of InnovaCare Partners, where he oversees the overall management and strategic direction of the MSO network.
Casper is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of healthcare experience and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer with Healthy Partners, Inc. (HPI) in Jupiter, FL. Under his leadership, HPI was transformed into a market leader in the managed care space, achieved rapid growth, improved efficiency, and increased brand equity.
In addition to his leadership position at HPI, Casper has served as President of Dermpath Diagnostics, the market leader in the delivery of dermatopathology services, a division of Quest Diagnostics, Inc. Casper has served in various leadership capacities with additional national healthcare companies as well as a leading private equity firm, Summit Partners.
Casper received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College’s Morrisey College of Arts and Science.
Chief Development Officer
Read BioMichael Holland serves as the Chief Development Officer for InnovaCare Health where he oversees InnovaCare’s growth strategy and leads the overall development initiatives, strategic acquisitions and partnerships for the organization.
Holland previously served as Chief Development Officer with U.S. Anesthesia Partners in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he led all acquisition and partnership efforts for the physician services organization. During his time with U.S. Anesthesia Partners, Holland completed more than 30 acquisitions totaling ~$1B in revenue. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the M&A function, he was a key participant in developing and driving strategy and initial ramp-up of various operational functions. Prior to U.S. Anesthesia Partners, Holland held positions at prominent investment banking firms in California and Florida. He received his bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University, followed by his J.D. as a Stone Scholar from Columbia University School of Law.
Chief Information Officer
Read BioRon Margalit serves as Chief Information Officer for InnovaCare Health.
An experienced healthcare entrepreneur and executive, Margalit previously served as Chief Technology Officer for MY DR NOW, Arizona’s largest private medical practice. In this position he implemented critical technology solutions to drive the organization’s strategic growth and evolution while enhancing access and patient and provider experience in all settings – in-office, in-home, call center and telehealth.
He spent 16 years with One Call Medical, starting as a service desk/system administrator before rising to the CTO position. He led multiple projects that were instrumental to the company’s growth from a $70 million company to a $1.5 billion company and was part of more than 20 acquisitions.
Margalit is also the founder and owner of Cracking Eggs, LLC, an IT consulting firm for startups in the healthcare space.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in computer science at Rutgers University.
General Counsel
Read BioLeslie Prizant serves as General Counsel for InnovaCare Health. In this role, she oversees the company’s legal matters and serves as a trusted advisor to the corporate and subsidiary leadership teams. With a strong background in healthcare law, Prizant brings 15+ years of experience to her current position, having held several leadership positions at growing healthcare companies.
Prior to InnovaCare, Prizant served as Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Prospect Medical Holdings, a California-based integrated healthcare system and provider of a broad range of acute care health services and accountable care organizations across the United States. Prizant’s previous leadership experience has included Executive Vice President and General Counsel at CarePoint Health System in New Jersey and Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Health Management Associates, Inc. which operated 72 hospitals in 15 states before merging into Community Health System. Prizant began her legal career as a healthcare attorney in national law firms based in Alabama and Florida.
Prizant earned her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Public Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her J.D. from Samford University.

Partner, Mednax Health Solutions
Read BioRoger J. Medel is the Founder of MEDNAX, Inc. (previously Pediatrix Medical Group), the Nation’s largest group of Neonatologists. Dr. Medel grew the company from one small group of Neonatologists managing care in one local hospital to a group of over 1200 Neonatologists and over 1000 Advanced Practice Nurses, which now manages Neonatology Departments (NICUs) in approximately 400 hospitals. In 2020, Dr. Medel stepped down from his position and remains a member of the MEDNAX Board of Directors.
Dr. Medel is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, MA. Dr. Medel also participates as a member of several medical and professional organizations and served on the Board of MBF Healthcare Acquisition Corp. from 2006 to 2009.
Dr. Medel was born in Cuba, graduated medical school in Europe at the University of Seville, Spain and is a graduate of the University of Miami’s Pediatric Residency Program. He also served an additional year as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at the University of Miami. He holds an MBA from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL.

Read BioDarren M. Black is a Managing Director with Summit Partners. Darren’s current board directorships include Abode Healthcare, Vertava Health, InnovaCare Health, LifeStance Health, Paradigm Outcomes, PharmScript, Sound Physicians, Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care and U.S. Renal Care.
Prior to Summit, Darren was a Managing Partner with SV Life Sciences, where he focused on healthcare services, healthcare information technology and pharmaceutical services. Prior to SV Life Sciences, Darren was Cofounder and President of two companies—ClinCare and PharmaStar. Previously, he was a healthcare consultant for Accenture.
Darren holds an AB in government from Harvard College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Darren serves on the boards of directors for Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Friends of the IDF.
Casey Leonetti

Experience
Ms. Leonetti joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 2019. She is an Operating Partner and a member of the Portfolio Group for North America Private Equity. Ms. Leonetti focuses on investments in the healthcare sector.
Prior to joining Bain Capital, Ms. Leonetti was a Senior Vice President at CVS Health, where she held several roles over a five-year period, including Operations, Product Development, and Process Automation. Prior to joining CVS Health, Ms. Leonetti was a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group, where she focused in the healthcare and consumer sectors.
Education
Ms. Leonetti has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Rice University.
Mr. Kaplan joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 2009. He is a Managing Director in the Healthcare Vertical and a member of the North American Private Equity team. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Global Private Equity training program and the recruiting team.
Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Kaplan was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs. He also co-founded EngagedHealth, LLC, a post-hospitalization service for chronically ill, low- income patients aiming to improve outcomes, reduce readmissions, and save costs. This experience has been fundamental to informing his perspective on the value delivered to patients and the broader healthcare system through higher quality, lower cost care models.
Education
Mr. Kaplan received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. As an undergraduate, he attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Class President for four years, and graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Economics.
Mr. Gordon joined Bain Capital Private Equity in 1997. He is a Managing Director, Co-Head of Bain Capital’s North America Private Equity business and Global Head of the Healthcare Vertical.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Gordon has been actively involved in and served on the Board of Directors for a wide spectrum of prominent healthcare companies in which Bain Capital has made investments.
